The Senate moved closer to passing COVID-19 relief:

Overnight the Senate passed the budget resolution needed to accelerate the passage of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package on a party-line vote, in which Vice President Kamala Harris broke the tie. The House could take up the measure as soon as today, and President Biden is set to meet with Democratic leadership and committee chairs in the lower chamber this morning to discuss the resolution. 

The U.S. economy grew very slowly in January as the virus continued to take hold: 

Employers in the U.S. added only 49,000 jobs last month, a sign that the economy will continue to struggle as the virus continues to spread. January was the worst month on record for deaths due to COVID-19. While the unemployment rate dropped slightly from 6.7% to 6.3%, there are still 9.9 million fewer jobs than there were in February 2020. However, the addition of jobs is an improvement over December, when losses were 227,000. 

The House voted to boot Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments:

After House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) refused to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from her two committee assignments in the wake of the surfacing of her myriad violent, antisemitic, Islamaphobic, and conspiracy theorist remarks, the House voted to remove her. 11 Republicans joined Democrats in stripping the freshman representative from her committees.
