Trump Wants Military Families to Pay for His Wall - Not Mexico
Don't Let Trump Steal From Military Families
Donald Trump wraps himself in the flag but treats our military men and women as political props. And now Trump is planning to steal military housing money from Gold Star families to save his political hide.
By declaring a national emergency, Trump has given himself unfettered power to take from money from wherever he pleases to build his vanity wall. And guess what? He's going to take it from the military.
To make matters worse, Trump’s fake national emergency is nothing more than his own 2020 campaign emergency. Trump is desperate to distract from his broken campaign promise to force Mexico to pay for his wall, and he has the sheer audacity to try and force military families to pay for it.
And he's not even asking -- he's going to just take the money!
Yes. Donald Trump is attempting to divert $3.6 billion from military construction projects, a lot of which are long overdue upgrades for housing for military families.
This stunt must be stopped before it’s too late. Just last week, military family members testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the terrifyingly dilapidated state of military housing. According to Stars & Stripes:
Termites falling from light fixtures. Toxic mold sickening families. Rodent infestations of residences. Asbestos and lead paint exposures. This is the alarming world of dilapidated military housing today.
On Wednesday, some families who have suffered with these residential nightmares told their stories on Capitol Hill.
“Our military families do not deserve this after all the sacrifices they make,” Janna Driver, the wife of an active-duty Air Force servicemember and mother of five children, told lawmakers during an extensive Senate hearing on military housing problems. “It is criminal. It is unbelievable the extent of this cover up.”
Trump’s recklessness is putting Servicemembers and military families at risk. Let's review Trump's past few months:
- Trump put Americans at risk by shutting down the government, forcing hundreds of thousands of families to go without pay.
- Trump sent our brave men and women to defend a border over a made up election time fake "caravan" -- OVER THE HOLIDAYS.
- Trump wants to steal money from military housing to pay for his vanity wall project.
Trump wants to prop up his re-election on the backs of the men, women and families of the military who deserve the housing upgrades they've been promised for decades.
Even Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) also supports Trump's stealing money from military families:
Democrats, however, are standing up to Trump and for military families:
"Removing lead from military housing, making overseas bases safer" and "upgrading hospitals that treat wounded troops" should be much higher priorities than a border wall. These are the types of projects military construction funding is supposed to pay for when it isn't stolen to build a wall that won't make us safer.” - Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA)
"I don't remember during the campaign he said that the wall was going to be paid for by military families. It was going to be paid for by he has a big political problem." - Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA)
Join us and tell Trump to not steal money from military family housing to build his vanity wall.
