Good afternoon. Here are the latest news and updates that our team at Future Majority is tracking.
We’ve got a fresh set of polls to report on ahead of tonight’s Democratic Primary Debate in Las Vegas.
Two national primary polls continue to show Senator Bernie Sanders leading the field.
An ABC News/Washington Post poll have Bernie Sanders again polling above 30 points nationally (32%), followed by Biden (16%), Bloomberg (14%), Warren (12%), Buttigeig (8%), Klobuchar (7%), Steyer (2%), and Gabbard (1%).
A Morning Consult poll also shows Sanders leading with 28%, while Bloomberg registers in second at 20%, followed by Biden (19%), Buttigieg (12%), Warren (10%), Klobuchar (6%), Steyer (3%), and Gabbard (2%).
Finally, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll has the following breakdown: Sanders (27%), Biden (15%), Bloomberg (14%), Warren (14%), Buttigieg (13%), Klobuchar (7%), Steyer (2%), Gabbard (1%).
As we head toward more voters casting their ballots in the Democratic Primary, we’re tracking new polling in South Carolina and Super Tuesday States.
A Change Research poll found Biden and Sanders tied at 23% support, followed by Steyer (20%), Buttigieg (15%), Warren (9%), Klobuchar (8%), and Gabbard (1%).
In the delegate-rich state of California, two polls by PPIC and KGTV/SurveyUSA show Sanders leading the field (with 32% and 25%, respectively), with Biden (14%, 15%) and Bloomberg (12%, 21%) jousting for second. See how the the rest of the field shakes out below:
Trump’s approval rating has remained underwater in three new polls this past week and Democrats continue to outpace him in head-to-head matchups.
The NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll has Trump’s approval 7 points below his disapproval:
- Approve: 44%
- Disapprove: 51%
Similarly, the ABC/Washington Post poll found Trump’s approval at 46% and his disapproval at 52%, a 6 point deficit for Trump.
The NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll has Trump’s approval at 47% and his disapproval at 50%.
Trump’s weakest showing is in the Economist/YouGov poll that surveyed registered voters from 2/16-2/18, where he’s down 11 points:
- Approve: 43%
- Disapprove: 54%
On average, Trump’s approval rating this week is 5 points below his disapproval (average approval: 46%, average disapproval: 51%).
Former Vice President Biden continues to perform the strongest against Trump in head-to-head polling. The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows the following:
And the ABC News/Washington Post poll also has Biden, followed by the rest of the field, ahead of Trump:
