The Freedom to Choose Must be Protected
Trump and the GOP are launching an all-out assault on the freedom to choose; we must fight back!
“Freedom… I believe you’re not free if you don’t have access to healthcare. I also don’t think you’re free if you’re a woman whose reproductive healthcare is being dictated by male politicians.” – Mayor Pete Buttigieg
Mayor Pete is right – you aren’t free if your reproductive healthcare decisions are being made for you by conservative politicians at a state capitol.
Since the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, conservatives have forced women to defend their rights over and over again. Anti-freedom conservative politicians and anti-choice extremists have passed hundreds of laws trying to restrict a woman’s right to choose. They’ve shut down access to abortion care, closed clinics, and made it harder for lower-income women to access care through gag rules.
What’s worse: extremists have opened thousands of fake healthcare clinics that lie to and mislead women about their rights.
Seven in 10 Americans are feeling frustration and anger at the radical right-wing agenda to deny personal freedoms like the freedom to choose. Women deserve the right to decide when and with whom to start a family, full stop. They don’t deserve to pay the price for a far-right political agenda.
Leaders who value women’s freedom are taking action to pass laws to protect access to abortion. Organizations like NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Center for Reproductive Rights, and others are leading the charge to help these laws pass.
Do you support a woman’s freedom to choose if, when, and with whom to start a family? Let us know.
