Your Daily Roundup for March 24th
Tell us how you feel Trump is handling the crisis in the comments
Good afternoon. Here are the latest news and updates that our team at Future Majority is tracking.
As Trump briefly took a more somber tone on coronavirus, his approval rating improved:
A new Monmouth poll shows President Trump’s approval rating at tie, a slight uptick over his consistent underwater approval:
- Approve: 48%
- Disapprove: 48%
The same poll finds, however, that a majority of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction:
- Right direction: 39%
- Wrong track: 55%
Like his overall approval, Trump’s handling of coronavirus is receiving higher marks than when Americans first began to tune in:
A Reuters/Ipsos poll out last week shows Trump’s approval of handling the crisis was up 8 points over the previous week and is now split:
- Approve: 47%
- Disapprove: 47%
The Monmouth poll shows an even improved picture for Trump, where 50% say he has done a good job handling the crisis and 45% say he has done a bad job. However, his approval is far worse than American’s view of their own Governors handling of the crisis: 72% approve of their Governor’s crisis management while only 18% disapprove.
Pending any additional postponements, here’s a look at the rest of the Democratic Primary calendar:
