Dr. Fauci is testifying to the U.S. Senate today:
Dr. Anthony Fauci is set to testify to the Senate today on how the country can safely reopen. In his opening remarks, he will say that Americans could experience “needless suffering and death” if the economy opens too soon without proper precautions.
Elon Musk announced he would defy a county order and open up a Tesla plant:
Musk, the CEO of Tesla, tweeted that “Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules” -- in direct defiance of the county order so he can open up a plant that is the main source of his company's revenue. Trump weighed in on the debate and tweeted, "California should let Tesla & @elonmusk open the plant, NOW. It can be done Fast & Safely!"
Trump’s approval continues to remain in the mid 40’s:
A new CNN poll finds that a majority of Americans disapprove of President Trump’s overall job as president:
- Approve: 45%
- Disapprove: 51%
This is a one-point uptick in his approval from early April and two points up from March.
When asked how respondents believe Trump is handling the coronavirus outbreak, an even larger majority disapproves:
- Approve: 42%
- Disapprove: 55%
