3 million more Americans have lost their jobs:
The latest weekly unemployment numbers show that an additional 3 million Americans filed new claims last week. That brought the total since the economy started faltering in the middle of March to 36 million.
A court struck down Wisconsin’s extended stay-at-home order:
The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled to immediately end the state’s stay-at-home order in a 4-3 decision. Governor Evers (D-WI) had attempted to extend travel restrictions and limits on nonessential b business until May 26th.
Voters are mixed on Trump’s handling of the economy:
A new Politico/Morning Consult poll finds that voters are fairly split on Trump’s handling of the economy:
- Approve: 48%
- Disapprove: 40%
A poll from Economist/YouGov finds a similar pattern among voters on Trump’s handling of jobs and the economy:
- Approve: 51%
- Disapprove: 45%
These approval ratings represent a slight downtick from previous polls, in which the President's approval on the economy rested in the mid-to-high 50’s.
