If you haven't stayed up to date on the dumpster fire that is the Trump administration's handling COVID-19, we're here to catch you up.
Once again, the Trump administration has decided to use a public health crisis as a means of corruption.
First, if you were wondering where the $600 billion+ of COVID-19 aid went for small businesses, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin isn't about to tell you. Mnuchin told Congress at a hearing that the names of loan recipients and the amounts are "proprietary information." American tax payers have no idea where the money is going and if it truly went to small businesses.
Second, the Trump administration prevented federal watchdogs from monitoring over $1 trillion in COVID-19 relief programs. A Trump administration legal ruling directly limits inspector generals and their ability to ensure taxpayer dollars are used appropriately.
In addition to secrecy and limited government oversight, at least four members of Congress have reaped the benefits of the small business loan program they helped create.
American taxpayers have a right to know where their hard-earned money is being spent.
This isn't the first time Trump, his family, and his allies have used taxpayer dollars to their own advantage. Read more here.
