Women have been disproportionately impacted by the economic fallout caused by COVID-19. From February to May, 11.5 million women lost their jobs compared to 9 million men.
Women are bearing the brunt of the recession and by the end of April, women's job losses had erased ten years of employment gains.
This shows that women, especially women of color, are more vulnerable to sudden losses of income -- and the gender pay gap only exacerbates the toll on their personal finances. Lack of childcare and remote schooling also impact their ability to work as women continue to be the primary caretakers of children at home.
How can we help women across the country struggling with job loss? By passing the HEROES Act.
