Good morning. As the COVID-19 pandemic takes a toll on life in America, our team at Future Majority is tracking the latest updates:
The Trump administration has banned TikTok:
After weeks of twists and turns, the Trump administration announced today that it would ban TikTok and WeChat, Chinese-owned phone apps, from U.S. based app stores beginning Sunday.
The two apps have over 100 million users in the United States. The announcement came after the August 6th executive order that said that the parent companies of the apps could collect user data and pass it off to the Chinese government.
There has been political interference at the CDC:
Last month, to the surprise of many experts and those in the public, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that people without symptoms should not be tested for COVID-19, even if they were in contact with a known case. Reports show that the guideline was updated to the objections of scientists at the agency and came from the top down at the Department of Health and Human Services. The news comes as reports indicate that there was also political interference in weekly morbidity reports from the CDC.
The New York Times is out with new battleground state polling:

- Biden: 49%
- Trump: 40%
