Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Good morning. As the COVID-19 pandemic takes a toll on life in America, our team at Future Majority is tracking the latest updates:
Election day is tomorrow:
The 2020 general election, which has been going on for weeks with early voting, comes to its conclusion on Election Day tomorrow. According to the U.S. Elections Project, over 94 million Americans have already cast their ballots through early voting or absentee voting by mail. Tens of millions more will cast their ballots tomorrow on Election Day -- if you have not already voted, find your polling place here.
At stake are the presidency, the U.S. Senate and U.S. House, a dozen governors’ seats, 86 state legislative chambers, countless statewide seats and local offices as well. Make your voice heard and get out and vote!
The backdrop of the election -- a surging virus:
COVID-19 is rapidly spreading across the country, hitting record new case levels and beginning to crowd ICUs in hospitals in states that are badly affected. The virus is the grim backdrop for the election and, according to polling, the number one issue on many voters’ minds as they cast their ballots.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert, said that the U.S. “could not possibly be positioned more poorly” going into the winter months. At a campaign rally late Sunday night, President Trump suggested he might fire Fauci as his White House often pushed policies counter to Dr. Fauci’s recommendations.
