Congress is back in session after the 2020 election, and Americans are struggling without much-needed support. We need to act fast and pass the HEROES Act.
The CARES Act invested $2.2 trillion in the economy and in Americans. This bipartisan package provided an unprecedented amount of fiscal support, but now that additional unemployment benefits have ended and key programs like the eviction moratorium are soon set to expire, Americans are once again falling behind. Just as the stimulus programs ran out, a second dangerous wave of the coronavirus hit the U.S.
The U.S. has now exceeded 11 million confirmed cases of the virus. It took only 6 days to add a million cases from 10 to 11 million. It took 10 days to surge from 9 to 10 million and two weeks to go from 8 to 9 million. The spread of the virus is exponential and it is not stopping anytime soon as the weather gets colder and people move indoors. It's long overdue that we pass the HEROES Act to support Americans in need, control the virus, bolster our healthcare system and get our frontline workers the protective equipment required to do their jobs safely.
Americans cannot wait any longer for support. People are facing evictions, businesses are closing, and our hospitals are struggling.
We need the Senate to pass the HEROES Act, and we cannot do it without your help. Contact your Senators now!
