Moderna will apply for FDA authorization for its vaccine:

In further promising vaccine news, pharmaceutical company Moderna announced Monday that it would apply for emergency use authorization from the FDA for its vaccine. The company released new data that showed its vaccine was 94.1% effective in a clinical trial of 30,000 volunteers and was 100% effective in preventing severe disease. Moderna is the second company after Pfizer to apply for authorization from the FDA, and the company said it was on track to produce 20 million doses by the end of next month.

A record number of Americans are hospitalized with COVID-19:

With the promising vaccine news comes the very painful reality of COVID-19 spiraling out of control in the United States. Over 93,000 people were in American hospitals on Sunday, a record total over the course of the pandemic. And as millions of people traveled over the Thanksgiving holiday (TSA data showed that between 800,000 and 1 million passengers were screened at airports in the days leading up to and after Thanksgiving) it is possible that the spread of the virus will only get worse.

A recount in Wisconsin again affirms President-elect Joe Biden won the state:

After the Trump campaign requested a recount in the two largest and most diverse counties in Wisconsin -- Milwaukee and Dane counties -- the vote tally has again affirmed that Biden carried the state. Biden netted 132 votes in Milwaukee county and Trump netted 45 votes in Dane County, orders of magnitude off the 20,608 margin that separates the two candidates and further dashing Trump’s hopes of overturning the will of the people. The voters decided, and the transition is happening while Trump continues to wage failing legal battles around the country.
