Good morning. As the COVID-19 pandemic takes a toll on life in America, our team at Future Majority is tracking the latest updates: 

245,000 jobs were added in November:

The United States added 245,000 jobs last month -- a positive development but a slow down from October when the country added 610,000 jobs. The unemployment rate now stands at 6.7%, a slight downward trend from 6.9% in October. The real unemployment rate is likely far higher, as this rate does not include people who have dropped out or been pushed out of the workforce and are not actively looking for work. There are still 9.8 million fewer jobs since February before restrictive measures were taken to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Fauci will serve in the Biden-Harris administration:

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert in the country, will be back in his post come January when the Biden-Harris administration is sworn in. He will also serve as chief medical adviser to the President. Dr. Fauci said he accepted the offer “right on the spot.” It has been a tumultuous time for Dr. Fauci as the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during the worst public health crisis in a century when he was often at odds with the hands-off approach of the Trump administration. 

Cases in the U.S. have rocketed past 14 million:

The United States continues to lead the world in total COVID-19 cases, surpassing 14 million earlier this week. The country is adding on average 173,000 cases per day over the past 7 days, as America nears an incredibly grim milestone of 275,000 deaths.
