Your Daily Roundup for December 7th
Let us know what you think
Good morning. As the COVID-19 pandemic takes a toll on life in America, our team at Future Majority is tracking the latest updates:
Government funding runs dry Friday:
Funding for the federal government expires this Friday. Congress is expected to pass a one-week stopgap spending bill to push back the deadline another week to December 18th. Critically, also on the table before the end of the year is a COVID-19 relief bill. A bipartisan group of lawmakers on the Hill have been formulating a proposal, but Republicans and Democrats remain at odds on key issues, including state and local funding and liability protections for businesses. We’ll be tracking the latest developments.
Rudy Giuliani has tested positive for COVID-19:
President Trump’s personal lawyer and former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, has contracted COVID-19. Giuliani has been party to dozens of failed lawsuits around the country in an attempt to undermine the will of the voters and undo the results of the 2020 Election that will put Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House on January 20, 2021. President Trump announced his lawyer’s positive diagnosis on Twitter Sunday night. By an NBC News count, at least 53 people in Trump’s inner circle have contracted the virus, including White House officials and other close contacts, beginning with Hope Hicks’ diagnosis in October.
As we head toward the holidays, COVID-19 is surging:
The U.S. averaged nearly 200,000 new cases per day over the last week ending Sunday, a new record high. The pandemic is only worsening. For the fifth straight day, over 100,000 people were in hospitals around the country with the virus. The U.S. is barreling toward 15 million confirmed cases and close to 300,000 deaths.
